ReCerf® Hip Resurfacing Receives Health Canada Approval
Health Canada approval marks the latest milestone in the clinical and commercial validation of ReCerf®, reinforcing MatOrtho's long-standing leadership in hip resurfacing.

MatOrtho is pleased to announce that ReCerf® Hip Resurfacing has received Health Canada approval, expanding access for Canadian surgeons and patients to one of the latest-generation hip resurfacing systems. The approval also represents an exciting new chapter in MatOrtho's partnership with Verve Medical Products, its Canadian distribution partner. Together, MatOrtho and Verve Medical Products look forward to supporting the continued growth and success of ReCerf™ across Canada through comprehensive clinical education, surgeon training, product support, and responsive customer service, helping ensure Canadian patients can benefit from this innovative hip resurfacing solution.
The approval represents another significant milestone in the global adoption of ReCerf®, which was first implanted in September 2018 as part of a large international, multicentre real-world surveillance programme involving more than 1,300 patients.
Since its introduction, ReCerf® has demonstrated strong clinical performance and growing surgeon adoption. The real-world evidence generated through the ReCerf® programme has resulted in the device receiving an ODEP 5A* rating.
Awarded by the Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP), the 5A* rating provides independent recognition of implant performance based on clinical evidence and survivorship data. The rating reflects both the quality of the available evidence and confidence in long-term implant performance, providing surgeons with additional assurance when evaluating treatment options.
