We are proud to announce that our Founder, Mike Tuke FREng, has been awarded an Honorary Degree from Imperial College London, recognising his pioneering contributions to orthopaedic engineering.
Mike’s career began with an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering at Imperial, followed by his work as a research officer in the College’s Biomechanics Unit. He later went on to establish a distinguished career in orthopaedic manufacturing, holding over 40 patents and developing innovative solutions that have transformed the lives of patients around the world.
His relentless commitment to patient-focused innovation has shaped MatOrtho’s values and continues to drive the design and delivery of orthopaedic devices that improve mobility and restore quality of life.
The award was presented during Imperial’s 2025 graduation ceremonies at the Royal Albert Hall. In a post shared by Professor Hugh Brady, President of Imperial College London, Mike was celebrated alongside other distinguished Honorary Degree recipients, including former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard AC.
